High School - Welcome Message

I hope you find this website useful. Thank you for your interest in J. D. Leftwich High School. Our school features a staff which is second to none. They focus on education while developing a genuine care for each student. A great atmosphere for learning has been instrumental in our success. The collective efforts of our administration, staff, and students have created a school which prepares our youth for future endeavors. Check out the various links which indicate our successes in academics, athletics, and within our clubs and organizations. Look at the list below:

Academically, we have 4 students who scored 30 or above on ACT this year and 22 in past 6 years. We had two governor's scholars last year with 11 in past 6 years. We had a National Merit Scholar and students who earned National Beta Club and National FBLA honors.

Athletically, our teams won 6 conference titles and 4 runners-up last year with girls track and softball both finishing top 10 in the state. One athlete was state runner-up in cross country while three others were state champions in weight lifting including a state record breaker! We have won 3 team state championships and two state runners-up in past 5 years. 12 of our athletes during that time have competed at the collegiate level including 5 in cross country and track, 4 in football, and 3 in baseball.

Like our kids say,”It’s a great time to be a Rattler!” We have a great school and a wonderful community.
