In order to be as open and honest as possible and keep everyone up to date, it is time that we share our COVID numbers with you. Until last week we were seemingly COVID-quarantine free but that has now changed. I want to let you know where we are with not only our staff but students. As most of you know it has been a very hard week as we continue to try to stay proactive and safe as it relates COVID.
Procedures to keep everyone safe are not always met with open arms but are required. I know that being on lockdown is scary for everyone as is students being removed from class because of COVID exposure but it is necessary and required by the Department of Health and the Department of Education to help minimize further exposures. Please understand that I will not and cannot release any names, and that these numbers are accurate at the time I am typing this but could increase as soon as I hit "post".
Here are the numbers:
High School has 9 students quarantined (none have tested positive)
Elementary has 6 students quarantined (none have tested positive)
Staff- 1 staff member is positive and is quarantined; 2 are quarantined (neither have tested positive); 1 out with a quarantined child; 2 are out with symptoms (none have had a positive test)
At this point there have been no known exposures to students from staff members. We want you to know that our Point of Contact (Donna Robinson) is working extremely hard to make sure that we are contract tracing to find any known exposure that may arise.
As a parent myself, I want you to know that we are taking this extremely seriously and are working toward limiting exposure for not just our staff and students but our community as well.
I know these numbers are scary and I am not sharing them with you to make things worse. Sometimes it is better to know than to imagine. We must stay vigilant to practice proper hygiene, wear our masks, and social distance where we can. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
